Black and white underwater photograph capturing my model in a dreamlike scene where she gracefully surrenders - she is suspended gracefully, sinking slowly to the bottom of the river, in flowing fabric and pearls. The monochrome palette evokes both fragility and strength, holding the subject in a moment between descent and release. The work recalls the dreamlike intimacy of Francesca Woodman and the underwater surrealism of Toni Frissell, situating my work within a lineage of photographers who transform the body into something both vulnerable and transcendent.
Named after a line in my own poem called "She lingers where the Lilies Fade"
Taken during an underwater photo shoot at Bitter Springs, Mataranka, Northern Territory in September, 2024.
