Kirsty Gautheron is a contemporary Australian artist living on Sydneyโs Northern Beaches. A childhood growing up in rural NSW started a close affinity with the land and nature. โI love wide open spaces, big skies and the changing effect of the weather on light and colour.โ
Her paintings are infused with a blend of memory, feeling and an appreciation for the wonder of nature. Her hope is that the viewer will feel present, forming their own experience of the moment with its atmosphere, colour and form. Now living close to the coast, Kirsty is also drawn to ocean spaces, coastal scenery and the old Manly ferry.
Acrylic and mediums are most often used in her paintings. She is inspired by many artists. To name just a few: Edward Hopper, Vincent Van Gogh, Cezanne, Philip Wolfhagen, Neil Frazer
Kirsty has worked in creative fields for most of her life, focusing on painting over the past decade or so. During this time, she has held successful solos and exhibited in group shows with a variety of galleries in NSW and Qld. She joined Sydney Road Gallery as a resident artist in December 2022 and exhibits regularly in their group shows. She had a sold out solo with this gallery in October of 2023. She exhibited and sold her collection with The Brush Artists at The Affordable Art Fair in Sydney in 2023. She was a salon finalist in the Lethbridge Landscape Prize in 2021 and in 2023 a finalist in the Hornsby Art Prize and the Doyles Art Award. Her work is held by collectors in Europe, the UK, US, New Zealand, and Australia.
