My studio is a five-minute walk from the Ku-Ring-Gai National Park. It is here where I go bushwalking most afternoons to unwind after the working day. The landscape; characterised by birdsong and eucalypt, flowers, creeks and milky skies; has provided me with solace and company for over two decades. In this work, I try to capture these personal encounters with nature, a refuge of unfolding beauty and connection.
I like to connect poetry to my work, and for this piece, I thought Mary Oliver's “Whistling Swans”would be a good fit : “Do you bow your head when you pray or do you look up into that blue space?”
