A Confusion of Fowl

This group of Guinea fowl, otherwise known as a confusion, is depicted on an abstract textured background of earthy tones breaking through the warm sand hue. They’re speckled feathers in gradients of blues to paynes grey incorporatean hypnotic mosaic of spots. This painting captures the individual characters of the birds as well as their camaraderie and freedom as they scratch and frolic together

Kylee is an artist based in Northern NSW for 25 years. She has had a lifelong passion for art in various forms including printmaking, design and digital art. Having completed a Bachelor of Visual Art in 2001 Kylee went on to work as a sign writer and in the graphic design and scenic art fields before recently shifting her primary focus to painting.

With my work I am exploring the mundane and the familiar in Australian culture. My aim is to provoke a feeling of nostalgia in the viewer. Native birds feature heavily with the intention to express their freedom and fragility as well as the boldness of their character.
