My break from bird paintings was a long one, and I'm so glad to be returning to them. Birds as a subject were my first love, and I'll never get tired of studying and trying to capture them in various media. Originally, my work was very detailed, but as my style loosened up, I found that trying to capture the essence of a bird instead of simply its likeness, was much more interesting. For this, there's really nothing better than mixed media, which is what I've employed here.
