A Rainbow on the Wing

This painting is done in gouache, which is an opaque watercolour medium that allows for these striking illustrative artworks.

This is a musk lorikeet, which is not a bird I've ever seen in real life before. Regardless, like all our native parrots, it's a pleasure to look at, even if through only photos. The gouache is a perfect medium for capturing the colours I wanted here, especially that beautiful green-blue of the background. I outlined the bird with colour pencils to bring certain features to the fore.

This would look great in a white frame with white matting.

This painting will be sent flat-packed.
