Lately I've been a tiny bit obsessed with looking at bird eggs; specifically, beautifully coloured ones that look nothing like the chicken eggs I'm familiar with. In the case of this egg, it was a speckled beauty of golden brown hues. To keep a glow to the speckles I initially painted the egg with a transparent yellow, then add the opaque cream on top, leaving the 'windows' the underlayer to act as my speckles.
The background is a study of light and shadow, and I'm really happy with how it came out, because it gives the egg such a presence.
This would look great in a white frame with white matting.
The painting will be shipped flat packed.
