A painting full of texture, created through multiple layers. What makes this painting is the additions and abstractions of layers, giving the painting depth and elevating it beyond the two dimensional. This is a new technique where I've incorporated wax into my paint, giving the final piece a gorgeous matte appearance. No need for varnish because the matte effect is intentional, and because the wax adds a layer of protection anyway. However, the paint surface will be as hard as a candle so please avoid scratches and get it framed.
I love the landscape format, allowing me to focus on the foreground instead of the sky as I usually do. That pop of teal on the right draws the eye initially, and then the glance follows it to the left and takes in the subtle changes of dark browns to golds.
This painting is one of many in this size that I intend on posting in the next few weeks, as I feel they'd make the perfect Christmas gift.
