I've been missing my chaotic skies recently, and this is the result! I love this painting, mainly because if was explained to me using just words I'd think it'd be a mess, but viewed...it has a lot of power, and despite the huge range of hues and colours, it really works! I think I need to begin working bigger, so that these storms are not confined to smaller canvases, but I'm also wary of very large paintings because they take me so long to complete.
As with all my semi-abstract landscapes, this was created using layer upon layer of paint, and countless scraping offs and adding ons. It's dynamic and powerful, and I love it.
It's oil paint on triple-primed framed canvas. I've added the keys to the back of the canvas for extra taught stretch.
