A Family Affair

I love the colours and textures which surfaced when I sanded back one of my older works and decided to turn it into a different work of art altogether. I added ink to the painting to add to the texture, then I added charcoal to give the pebbles their three dimensional shape and painted the surroundings pristine white.

Lara Louise Karpeljuk is an almost entirely
self taught award-winning artist who, only in recent years, found the time to explore and develop her skills further. She is forever expanding her expertise as she likes to explore new mediums, textures and colours.

As a multidisciplinary artist, Lara’s artworks range from loose watercolour paintings in an illustrative style over more realistic acrylic paintings to abstract artworks often influenced by Australian flora and fauna.

Her journey as an artist began by creating the most intricate black and white pencil drawings using mainly animals as her subjects. Nowadays Lara still enjoys working with pencils to create pet portraits by commissions.
