I love australian native flowers and proteas. I have a protea farm in my area and spoil myself to a bunch every now and again. The blue pottery was a gift, my husband received from a friend over 30 years ago from a local potter and has pride position in hour house. The vibrancy of the flowers stand out against the dark background and work in well lit as well as darker hanging spaces because of it.
I posted this particular bunch as a photo on social media and I got asked to paint it. So I did. I love this painting and wanted to have a print for myself as well as share it with others.

Lara Louise Karpeljuk is an almost entirely
self taught award-winning artist who, only in recent years, found the time to explore and develop her skills further. She is forever expanding her expertise as she likes to explore new mediums, textures and colours.

As a multidisciplinary artist, Lara’s artworks range from loose watercolour paintings in an illustrative style over more realistic acrylic paintings to abstract artworks often influenced by Australian flora and fauna.

Her journey as an artist began by creating the most intricate black and white pencil drawings using mainly animals as her subjects. Nowadays Lara still enjoys working with pencils to create pet portraits by commissions.
