Artwork Description

Proteas are my favourite flowers by far, that’s why I paint or draw them quite regularly.
This one started off as a pencil sketch, but because of the textured paper, I could not achieve the depth I wanted. Therefore I painted over it with some ink, which gives it almost a watercolour feel with the pencil underneath still visible. The background is painted with acrylic paint to achieve the contrast.
The paper size is A3, artwork is unframed and framed images are suggestions only.

Artist Bio

Lara Louise Karpeljuk is an almost entirely
self taught award-winning artist who, only in recent years, found the time to explore and develop her skills further. She is forever expanding her expertise as she likes to explore new mediums, textures and colours.

As a multidisciplinary artist, Lara’s artworks range from loose watercolour paintings in an illustrative style over more realistic acrylic paintings to abstract artworks often influenced by Australian flora and fauna.

Her journey as an artist began by creating the most intricate black and white pencil drawings using mainly animals as her subjects. Nowadays Lara still enjoys working with pencils to create pet portraits by commissions.

Lara enjoys opening her studio for visitors. Feel free to contact her, if you are in the Margaret River Region in Western Australia.
