Artwork Description

Copper Shimmer Rockpool is part of the Dune series, inspired by sand dunes and inlets, shells and rockpools.

This huge artwork is inspired by a the sun rippling on the surface of a rockpool filled with seaweed.

The colours are black, charcoal grey, an ochre/ burnt orange, creamy beige, soft grey and white. The greens range from sage green to khaki green, olive green and moss.
There is shimmering metallic copper leaf over the artwork and highlights of black charcoal
The metallic copper will change from a bright copper penny to a deep burnished copper depending on the light.

This artwork is unstretched and measures 162 x 130cm. It will measure approximately 150 cm x 118 cm when it is stretched over a deep/thick edge stretcher- the painting flows over the edge. It can be hung either way - portrait or horizontal.

Artist Bio

Australian artist Laurie Franklin (b. 1981) is an established, internationally collected painter known for her layering of paint and mixed media to create tactile works ranging from mountains, seascapes to florals and abstracted forms.

Laurie has sold 1000s of artworks since starting painting in 2002, artwork is displayed in hotels, restaurants and held collections in over 20 countries. Past hotel projects have included 200m of hand painted wallpaper and hundreds of original artworks for hotel suites.

Based in Melbourne, Australia she works from a large studio space allowing several artworks to be worked on simultaneously. She travels and undertakes Art residencies around the world, the changing scenery influences her unique approach to capturing the intrinsic character of the landscape . Her gestural style, tight color palette and use of metallic elements create tactile, intriguing artworks.
