Artwork Description

The unstretched size is 152 x 132 cm - allowing for a 6cm edge to stretch over a thick edge canvas stretcher or to be neatly framed. it can be hung in Portrait or Landscape orientation.

Russet Gold Rockpool is part of the Dune series, depicting the wild grass, tangled tea trees and twisted banksia branches that intermingle with drift wood and crushed shell found along Point Gellibrand.
My artwork traces rock pools, seaweed and lichen covered rocks - it can be viewed almost like a map.

My practice involves sketching and painting en plein air, layering the washes of paint and charcoal as the sun makes it way through the sky and the shadows lengthen on the dune. Thegold leaf highlights are the sun gilding rock-pools and flashing through the rocks.

This artwork is painted in a warm cream, light and dark ochres, gold, maroon, dark rust, deep brown, tan, small touches of grey and black.

The gold leaf changes in tone from warm gold to deep darker "old gold'
