Artwork Description

Seaweed Drift Gold is part of the Dune series, inspired by sand dunes and inlets, shells and rockpools.

This artwork ships in a roll - please select framing/stretching through Bluethumb's professional framing service or discuss your options with your local framer.

This huge artwork ripples with metallic gold and layers of colours that have been built up in layer upon layer to give a translucence and to create the depth of looking through water into a rockpool with seaweed and rocks. There are areas of raised texture.

It ships rolled in a tube. The full size of the artwork is 162 x 192cm and is painted to the edge. It can be hung portrait or horizontal.

The colours are black, ochre, tan, terracotta, creamy beige, dark green, light green, olive, black, a grey blue, 2 shades of gold and white.
The areas of gold leaf have been sealed.

Artist Bio

Australian artist Laurie Franklin (b. 1981) is an established, internationally collected painter known for her layering of paint and mixed media to create tactile works ranging from mountains, seascapes to florals and abstracted forms.

Laurie has sold 1000s of artworks since starting painting in 2002, artwork is displayed in hotels, restaurants and held collections in over 20 countries. Past hotel projects have included 200m of hand painted wallpaper and hundreds of original artworks for hotel suites.

Based in Melbourne, Australia she works from a large studio space allowing several artworks to be worked on simultaneously. She travels and undertakes Art residencies around the world, the changing scenery influences her unique approach to capturing the intrinsic character of the landscape . Her gestural style, tight color palette and use of metallic elements create tactile, intriguing artworks.
