This impressionistic floral artwork is inspired the abundance of florals in beautiful vivid tones of purples, periwinkle blue, lavender, violet, deep magenta, dark cadmium yellow, rosy taupe, dusty rose, and softer pinks. The colours are fluid, watercolour weaving and blending into each other . Pastel has been worked over the acrylic and there is a lot of detail when you look closely.
The background is a light summer yellow and the right hand corner is a warm off white.
The foliage is sage, hunters green, avocado green and a softer olive green.

It has been sealed with a UV artist varnish to protect the pastels and paint.

The room setting shows the final stretched size 106cm wide x 200cm high.
The total unstretched size is 118 x 214cm BEFORE stretching - so when it is stretched the painting will wrap around the sides (as shown) Giving a complete neat finish.

Australian artist Laurie Franklin (b. 1981) is an established, internationally collected painter known for her layering of paint and mixed media to create tactile works ranging from mountains, seascapes to florals and abstracted forms.

Laurie has sold 1000s of artworks since starting painting in 2002, artwork is displayed in hotels, restaurants and held collections in over 20 countries. Past hotel projects have included 200m of hand painted wallpaper and hundreds of original artworks for hotel suites.

Based in Melbourne, Australia she works from a large studio space allowing several artworks to be worked on simultaneously. She travels and undertakes Art residencies around the world, the changing scenery influences her unique approach to capturing the intrinsic character of the landscape . Her gestural style, tight color palette and use of metallic elements create tactile, intriguing artworks.
