Artwork Description

Oil on wood, ready to hang.

Signed on the back.

This mini painting is inspired by the story of Paris and the Golden Apple in Greek mythology.
In Greek mythology, a young man called Paris is asked to bestow the golden apple, engraved with words โ€œfor the most beautiful,โ€ on the worthiest goddess. The goddesses in question were:
- Hera, the jealous wife and sister of Zeus;
- Athene, daughter of Zeus and goddess of war, and;
- Aphrodite, goddess of love and beauty.
It is a difficult decision for Paris as he will likely end up with two powerful enemies. In the end he chooses Aphrodite who promises him Helen, the most beautiful woman, in return for the golden apple.
