Leila Davis, a UK-born Australian ceramic artist, comes from a family of artist-scientists.
Practicing as a doctor, psychotherapist, and wellbeing mentor, she honed the skill of connecting with others beyond words, using movement, art, and music. She brings this desire for connection and presence to her ceramics, using the language of form, colour and collective cultural memory.
Growing up with an Arabic mother surrounded by Middle Eastern art, the timeless paintings and vessels of the Near and Far East deeply influenced her style.
After studying at the Brisbane Institute of Art, she undertook an artist-in-residence program in 2025 with Buncheong Master Im Kim Moon in Korea, to immerse in the ceramic practice of carving and inlay.
She is a member of The Australian Ceramics Association and Ceramic Arts Queensland and has recently exhibited her work in the group show, ‘Elemental’, at Field Trip Gallery.
Her work is available through the Brisbane Gallery and Abode Brisbane.
