Artwork Description

Painted in a contemporary, minimalist style to suit modern decor, this charming and realistic scene of a parliament of four Australian native Boobook owls. They are set under a metallic silver moon, in a willowy eucalypt tree, wide eyed except for one! Also known as mopokes, these lovely nocturnal birds can be seen in the wild perched on an open branch or tree top. The birds are painted with great detail to capture the beauty of their feathers and the life in their eyes. The scene conveys a touch of nature’s magic. For all bird lovers.

Artist Bio

Nature is the driving force in my art. As an artist living in regional Victoria, I am intensely conscious of the fragile beauty of the environment and the wildlife in my surroundings. That is why I now focus mainly on nature art. My oil paintings capture the moments, stories and characters of the animals which I have observed in the natural world.

I paint realistically to convey the reality of all life and the importance every living thing. In order to portray animals realistically, I work with care to build the fine details, layers of colours and subtle tones which capture their life like personas.

I also speak through my art to convey a message of conservation. Because of my support of animal rescue groups, I have met rescuers and orphaned or injured animals. Their stories have concerned me so greatly that they have become the impetus for much of my art. Whilst each of my paintings are based on life, I often add elements of imagination, humour or pathos; for the animal world is full of all of these.

My paintings have found their way around Australia and overseas with many private collectors. I am happy to accept commissions.
