Artwork Description

Millie overcame abandonment and injuries to become a beloved pet. She was found motherless in a shed, along with her siblings, in Mt Isa. She loved exploring my painting set ups, and it felt natural to me to paint her with my home-grown pumpkins. Millie was very ill, and underweight when she came into care. Through fostering, this tiny girl was able to recover at her own pace, and find a wonderful home where she is much loved. On the right is my monitor with a recipe for Chouquettes - this was Millie's original foster name as she was the tiniest of 10, and resembled a little pastry puff.

I love blending traditional still life themes along with modern things like PC monitor. I love having technology peeking in as a way to set my paintings in their specific time period and as a part of the narrative of the stories I am telling.

Artist Bio

Artist, illustrator, engineer. Sharing the things I make and living on a beautiful mountain. 🎨

I love painting in different styles and creating whatever takes my fancy. I like to think you can see my voice in each piece I create. I love making still life, landscape, portraits, woodworking, and colour pencil illustrations

My work has been exhibited all around the world and is held by numerous private collectors. I've had my work featured in publications including Frankie, Little White Lies (UK), Yen, NYLON, Elle Girl (South Korea), as well as countless others. You can find my illustrations on all 10 Aussie covers of the Friday Barnes series by R.A. Spratt.

My experience in illustration includes advertising, children’s book illustration, textile design, editorials, asset creation for an animated TV commercial. Clients include Penguin Random House Australia, Oxfam America, Officeworks, and Saatchi & Saatchi.

I also lived in Germany for years and am fluent in the language and loved visiting museums when I lived there. You can see the influence of my time there in my still life paintings.
