Artwork Description

Black frame with white mat board.
This is the sixth in a series of drawings that evolved in layers of dark tones over a lighter background,. The series consists of nine drawings. Each drawing took between 100 - 250 hours to complete. The series features artists, gardeners, and volunteers at an artists' community in Eltham Victoria. Each of these people very kindly allowed me to draw them. I have had too much fun with these drawings as I honed in and exaggerated lines and wrinkle on their faces.
These drawings appear traditional, but are also modern. There is a new trend towards traditional figurative representation. I also hope to elevate the art of drawing because it is every bit, if not more, a skill as well as an art that artists can practice develop only over time and with exploration.
