Artwork Description

This painting was painted to enter into a National Still Life Award, unfortunately it didn't make it through as a finalist, but one of my other paintings of a rubix cube did.

The composition was set upon a piece of glass on top of a black background to allow me to play with the reflection in sweeps of the palette knife.

This painting is inspired by the lollies my Nan used to have when I was a child. She always had licorice all sorts for the grandchildren and they bring back such fond memories.

The painting comes framed in a professional quality white box frame. Painted on hand stretched triple primed 10oz hand stretched canvas, the painting comes sealed in a satin finish, signed and ready to hang. It also comes accompanied with a Bluethumb Certificate of Authenticity.

(I do apologise that I have had trouble with glare in photographing this piece. I will try again on an overcast day.)

Artist Bio

I am an artist based in Wollongong, NSW, I grew up here between the mountains and the sea. My passion lies in painting with bright and bold colours, Australian native animals, especially birds make up a lot of my inspiration, though I also like to explore flora and still life subjects. I like to accentuate the hints of colour I see within my subject matter. I love painting with a palette knife and I use mainly acrylic paints on stetched canvas.

I love to add texture to the canvas with deliberate strokes that give the subject matter definition without it always being obvious. I am a full time artist working from my home studio on the South Coast. I find great inspiration from daily beach and bush walks and I can't imagine a life where I was not able to be creative everyday, and I feel truley blessed to be on this journey.
