Trans Pride - Out of the Grey No.15

Trans Pride is painting No.15 in a series that I call out of the grey. The paintings are in support of someone very close to me who has publicly come out and I decided to do the series to show my support for them, this person has been asking me for a while to paint one in the trans flag colours in a form of support for all trans people out there :)

The idea is for the birds or animals to have the colours of the pride flag or in this case the trans flag splashed proudly on them with a grey background as if they are coming out of the grey area that has been holding them back and coming out into the light/colour and feeling happy and proud of who they are.

Trans Pride is painted with a dark grey background and grey painted sides.

I am an artist based in Wollongong, NSW, I grew up here between the mountains and the sea. My passion lies in painting with bright and bold colours, Australian native animals, especially birds make up a lot of my inspiration, though I also like to explore flora and still life subjects. I like to accentuate the hints of colour I see within my subject matter. I love painting with a palette knife and I use mainly acrylic paints on stetched canvas.

I love to add texture to the canvas with deliberate strokes that give the subject matter definition without it always being obvious. I am a full time artist working from my home studio on the South Coast. I find great inspiration from daily beach and bush walks and I can't imagine a life where I was not able to be creative everyday, and I feel truley blessed to be on this journey.
