Every year we travel from Sydney down to Potato Point at Easter time. I snapped a picture from the car of this little shed as we drove past in 2021 with the intention of painting it but I didn't do so until early 2024 when I decided it was perfect for this gorgeous framed canvas from Southern Buoy.
I love the simplicity of this landscape and whilst I made a couple of changes to the scene for compositional purposes, it's mostly reflective of this particular spot near Coila in NSW. I have thousands of photos on my phone from these trips and despite being very familiar with this scene due to painting it, the actual location wasn't top of my mind.
In March 2024, my family and I headed down the coast once again on our annual camping trip. Snacking on chips and Jubes, I was super surprised to see this little shed whiz past us! I'd totally forgotten that I'd snapped the pic on this exact drive and was quite chuffed to recognize it again, 3 years down the track.
The painting comes complete with a gorgeous natural flooded gum floating frame and is ready to hang.
This work will be available for purchase online and will also be on display at the Bluethumb Gallery in Richmond, Melbourne as part of the gallery's 'Bluethumb x Southern Buoy: 40 x 40' exhibition from May 2nd - July 1st. Interested collectors may inquire prior to this date.
