Title: Where the Garden Dreams
Story / Description for Bluethumb
There’s something wonderfully quiet about this little painting. I imagined a garden caught somewhere between memory and imagination — masses of soft pink and mauve blossoms spilling across the canvas, with glimpses of turquoise, blue and lavender weaving through them.
The deeper purple horizontal marks became almost architectural, like a garden wall, fence or perhaps the edge of a hidden path. I loved the way the solid shapes contrast with the loose, almost petal-like layers above them.
I wasn’t trying to paint a particular garden or landscape. Instead, I wanted to capture that feeling of wandering somewhere beautiful and familiar, yet not quite knowing where you are. The glossy layers catch the light as you move around the painting, adding another dimension to the surface.
It feels to me like a small secret garden — colourful, slightly mysterious and full of light.
