Where The Sea Meets the Sky

Layers of vivid cobalt and ocean blues create a sense of expansive water and open sky, while fragments of darker forms suggest sails, distant vessels and a shoreline emerging through the composition. Flecks of white evoke sea spray and reflected light, while flashes of red and yellow bring unexpected warmth and movement.
At the centre of the painting, a softly rendered moon adds a quiet focal point above the energetic marks below. The contrast between gestural brushwork, scraped and layered passages, linear marks and scattered dots creates a feeling of movement — as though the scene is constantly shifting with wind, water and light.
Rather than depicting a particular place, the work captures the feeling of being beside the sea: the exhilaration of the wind, the pull of the horizon and the sense of possibility that comes with looking out towards open water.
