Artwork Description

Oil on wood, ready to hang.

Signed on the back.

"Billy is Anything But Boring" - oil on wood panel, 16 x 20 x .75 inches. Ready to hang.

The older I get, the more I realize that success at most things isn't about finding the one trick or secret nobody knows about.

It's consistently doing the boring, mundane things everyone knows about but is too unfocused/undisciplined to do.

Translating the basalt cliffs of the Columbia River Gorge to an abstract landscape.Exploring expressionism and abstraction in portraiture, always trying to capture emotion and convey the essence of a feeling. In this case, the interconnectedness of hope and despair, one necessary for the other.Exploring the superpowers in all of us - because each of us has something spectacularly powerful and unique. Is it time to wear a cape? You betcha! In the search to capture emotion in art, I found myself deep into a series of bots...bots in ballgowns, bots in petticoats, bots in kimonos, bots with orb heads. The question is: can an emotionless thing evoke emotion? In fiction (i.e. MURDERBOT) the answer is yes. And in art? Well, the group of emoting bots in my studio also say yes. Sometimes being an artist is the greatest possible adventure. :)
