Artwork Description

A solitary tree stands against a vast night sky, holding the final warmth of the day in its leaves. The land rolls gently beneath it, luminous and golden, as if still remembering the sun that has just slipped away.

I am drawn to that quiet threshold where light lingers but darkness has already taken hold. In this work, the contrast between the deep black sky and the glowing grasses creates a sense of stillness and resilience. The tree becomes both witness and anchor, standing firm in the wide silence.

Painted in oil with fine detail and layered glazes, this piece balances bold negative space with intricate foliage, allowing it to read strongly from a distance while rewarding closer viewing. It is a work about presence — about what remains when the light has almost gone.

The painting will be carefully packaged for its journey to its new home, ensuring it arrives in perfect condition.

If this piece isn’t quite perfect for your space, I am more than happy to discuss a commission based on this painting, allowing you to create a personalized work of art that captures your vision.

Artist Bio

Lucinda Leveille is an Australian landscape artist based in Queensland, known for atmospheric oil paintings that explore weather, stillness, distance and the emotional presence of place.

Working primarily in oils, Lucinda creates original landscape paintings shaped by memory, light and the quiet tension of changing skies. Her work often features clouds, trees, open land, distant roads and weather-filled horizons, sitting somewhere between realism and abstraction.

A graduate of the National Art School in Sydney, Lucinda has painted for many years and has exhibited widely, with work held in private collections across Australia and overseas. She has been recognised as one of Bluethumb’s Top 50 artists, placing her among the top-selling artists on the platform.

Her paintings are created as one-of-a-kind originals, with no prints or reproductions. Each work is developed slowly through layers of oil paint, colour, atmosphere and feeling, offering collectors a quiet place to arrive within the landscape.
