Artwork Description

This is my first mixed media piece which is part of my new series titled - Still Life After Death - and no its not morbid - it refers to new life.
I guess there is also a bit of a pun going on here as most of the images can be classified as "still life".
Everyone in Australia has been affected by the recent bushfires, artists are no exception. Perhaps if we look at it from a perspective of a necessary part of our ecosystem – so from destruction comes life.
There are many reasons I chose the sunflower to represent this series - they are drought and heat tolerant, making them perfect for Australian conditions and they can be used for medicine, cooking and making pigments!
The bushfires produced many images that were heart breaking, but one image which I found really poignant was a single scorched sunflower, still standing upright in a burnt and desolate landscape.
So, to new beginnings .......
If you love this piece but it doesn’t quite suit your space, I would be delighted to work with you to produce an artwork that will work for you and your home, I enjoy commissions and it’s always great to know that this is something uniquely yours. You can now email me directly, straight to my inbox and we can discuss what you would like.
As with all of my works, this is an original and a one of a kind, I do not make prints from any of my works.
The paintings are signed on the front with my name ‘Lucinda’ and come with a Certificate of Authenticity. I only use Artist quality materials in the creation of my artwork – archival, quality paper for my watercolours, pastels and drawings, well prepared supports for my oil paintings and both are painted using artist quality pigments.
All pieces are available framed if you would like, please get in touch. My framer has promised me a particularly fast turnaround as long as the frames and matts are in stock, so add another one to two days for delivery (additional cost for framing will apply of course but please ask for a quote).
The piece will arrive cocooned in bubble wrap and packed within a sturdy cardboard container, sometimes recycled (I do like to recycle when I can!), any glass will be taped to help prevent breakage, I am still losing the war with the tape machine so the package may not be the prettiest on the outside but the contents will arrive safe and sound.

Artist Bio

Lucinda Leveille is an Australian landscape artist based in Queensland, known for atmospheric oil paintings that explore weather, stillness, distance and the emotional presence of place.

Working primarily in oils, Lucinda creates original landscape paintings shaped by memory, light and the quiet tension of changing skies. Her work often features clouds, trees, open land, distant roads and weather-filled horizons, sitting somewhere between realism and abstraction.

A graduate of the National Art School in Sydney, Lucinda has painted for many years and has exhibited widely, with work held in private collections across Australia and overseas. She has been recognised as one of Bluethumb’s Top 50 artists, placing her among the top-selling artists on the platform.

Her paintings are created as one-of-a-kind originals, with no prints or reproductions. Each work is developed slowly through layers of oil paint, colour, atmosphere and feeling, offering collectors a quiet place to arrive within the landscape.
