Artwork Description

Thargamindah: Road Into Silence is inspired by the beautiful coloured red earth that surrounds Thargamindah, a landscape where heat, dust and distance seem to hum beneath the surface. Out here the land carries its colour like a memory, deep and unhurried, and the road eases forward into a quiet that feels almost ancient. The air holds a soft red haze, the sort that settles on everything and turns the far hills into suggestion rather than certainty. This painting follows that slow drift into stillness — the way the country falls silent the further you go, the way the red earth glows even as the light thins. It is a work about entering a place where sound fades, where time stretches, and where the land speaks in colour rather than noise.

Artist Bio

Lucinda Leveille is an Australian landscape artist based in Queensland, known for atmospheric oil paintings that explore weather, stillness, distance and the emotional presence of place.

Working primarily in oils, Lucinda creates original landscape paintings shaped by memory, light and the quiet tension of changing skies. Her work often features clouds, trees, open land, distant roads and weather-filled horizons, sitting somewhere between realism and abstraction.

A graduate of the National Art School in Sydney, Lucinda has painted for many years and has exhibited widely, with work held in private collections across Australia and overseas. She has been recognised as one of Bluethumb’s Top 50 artists, placing her among the top-selling artists on the platform.

Her paintings are created as one-of-a-kind originals, with no prints or reproductions. Each work is developed slowly through layers of oil paint, colour, atmosphere and feeling, offering collectors a quiet place to arrive within the landscape.
