Artwork Description

"Tree Top Views" by Lucinda Leveille is a breathtaking exploration of colour and nature, capturing the intricate beauty of the gum tree canopy in a striking vertical format. Measuring impressively large at 160cm, this piece invites viewers to ascend high above the ground, immersing themselves in the vibrant world of treetops. The innovative colour palette of turquoise, red, and ochre mirrors the stunning hues found in rainbow gum trees, creating an almost dreamlike effect that transports the observer into the heart of the Australian rainforest.

The hues of turquoise evoke a refreshing tranquility, reminiscent of clear blue skies and crystalline waters, while the fiery reds add an exhilarating burst of energy, capturing the ephemeral beauty of fleeting sunsets that filter through the branches. Ochre serves as an earthy grounding force, connecting the vibrant colours with the rich soil from which these majestic trees emerge.

The background clouds add depth and dimension, suggesting an expansive sky that frames the scene and enhances the sense of elevation. This composition invites viewers not only to observe but to immerse themselves in the experience of being high above in the treetops, with the vastness of nature surrounding them. The clouds, hint at stories from above—the passage of time, the dance of light, and perhaps even the whispers of the wind.
