Nani is the name of the maternal grandmother in Hindi. A Grandmother is the most beautiful and warmest woman in the world. No other person in your life will come close to comparing to her. She will laugh at all of your jokes, spoil you and let you get away with everything your parents don’t allow.

I create portrait art on canvas with oil paint. Carefully I observe, then slowly sketch form and outline. Then add colour, depth and contrast.

I want to attract the viewer with a likeness which is familiar and recognisable. Then keep the audience searching for character, personality and energy.

There is such a challenge in portraiture. There is such a thrill to see lines, strokes and colour transform into human form. I’m inspired by identity, story and temperament coming to life in art.
