Artwork Description

This work was inspired by a handmade metal rooster I bought years ago from a craft market. He has lived in different locations over the years and continues to live on now. Lurking in the backyard next to our rendered wall and tucked in under all sorts of plants he made me smile each day when I looked out the window (he's in a new location now). With gorgeous strong flashes of copper paint this guy cheekily peeks out of the artwork and will add warmth and colour to any space. Perfect for lovers of birds and nature. The colourings are very hard to capture on camera but the over arching colour base is warm, rustic into the warm sandstones. I have referred to the Dulux Yellows Colour Chart to help and the closest I can come to is "Bee Hall" and "Butter Ridge" as the predominant colours in the work, but it is mottled by stippling so there are untold warm colour combinations in the background. There are also ridges of texture to infer the welding in the the metal joins and the work is painted around the sides.

Artist Bio

Lyndsey is an Australian (NZ born) contemporary, eclectic artist creating unique paintings, prints and sculptures inspired by nature from her Sydney studio.

Taking a very varied approach to her chosen subjects Lyndsey is somewhat of a chameleon, never staying within one genre or style. Lyndsey chooses her colour palettes with care, aiming to create tranquil, calm even meditative works or enhance with bright hues and bold strokes along with many other physical applications of paint, pen, pencil and more. Flitting from each discipline as inspiration hits, Lyndsey is a responsive artist.

Some career highlights have been works featured in the media from her many and varied Bald Archy portrait artworks.

Also a finalist in many art competitions such as The Hills Grammar Acquisitive Art Prize, Blacktown Art Prize, Hunters Hill Art Prize, The Bald Archy, Westmead Art Prize to name a few, and has won multiple awards in different disciplines. Her artworks are found in private and public institutions here in Australia and overseas. Lyndsey was honoured to be one of 3 artists involved in bringing "Drawing on Memory" to life for Holocaust Survivor Harry Fransman (featured on Channel 7's Weekend Sunrise).

Education includes a Diploma of Fine Art from The Sydney Gallery School, study at Julian Ashton School of Art, Waikato Polytech and many casual art workshops after being predominantly a self taught artist.
