Mixed Media on canvas, stretched and ready to hang.
Signed on the back.
This vibrant mixed media painting by Marijke Lambregtse is a continuation of my works influenced by my travel through Italy in 2022 and coming home and settling back in Australia. Memorizing and capturing glorious infectious colors, flowers, rolling hills and people as well as the heatwave we experienced due to climate change in some small paintings. Our subtropical garden I love so much comes also into play being home in my beautiful studio here in Brisbane. Also I had a flash back while making this painting to the time when I was a dancer in Holland and I dyed my long hair red with henna and when I got on stage to perform the director noticed my brilliant red hair as I mixed it with lemon to make even brighter so in the lights I looked like a fire ball I guess and he got so angry that I had to pay a big fine 😂 Anyway there’s also some feeling of eco grief as I call it. Some regret that basically nothing has been done much and much earlier and now it’s too late and we have to bear the consequences.
I used acrylic paint, different pens, pencils, oil pastel and collage from antique poetry books I bought at the antique market in Umbria, Italy.
These four paintings would make an amazing colorful and vibrant set in any shape or from or by itself on your wall with food for thought and discussion.
