Artwork Description

Magpies foraging among autumn leaves make a wonderful subject for painting. I have loved creating this work and I feel sure it will bring you a sense of pleasure wherever you choose to hang it. The collective noun for Australian magpies is a Tiding, and I have used it in my title to convey a sense of the glad tidings that their carolling brings to my heart every morning as I awaken.
I have painted the design around the edges so my painting looks beautiful without the need for framing. I have used professional materials throughout. All my paintings come with a certificate of authenticity.

Artist Bio

Thank you for visiting my page. Painting is central to my life and happiness, and I hope you will sense an expression of joy in my work.

I paint in both oils and acrylics, choosing whatever style I feel is right for my subject, sometimes in a traditional representative manner, sometimes impressionistic, sometimes abstract. I enjoy painting nature, including flowers, trees and birds in my own garden, still life arrangements, land and seascapes.

I have painted all my life and work from my home studio. I also regularly paint with a group of artists whom I count among my best friends.

My paintings are held in private collections in Australia, New Zealand, the UK and Canada.

I have won several prizes including Best Oil in Show at Mornington, Best Acrylic in show at Mount View, Best Land or Seascape at Mount View, People’s Choice at Flinders, and several High Commendations.

In 2013, I was honoured with the Order of Australia medal for services to the education of deaf children. It is lovely now, as an older woman, to have the opportunity to give back to my community as a volunteer in a program that supports parents of deaf babies and toddlers.
