Boab trees (Adansonia gregorli) grow in remote the Kimberley region of northern WA and east into the Northern Territory. Their only living relatives are far away in Africa. They are one of the oldest living things in Australia and in the rest of the world. Their leaves drop during the dry season and return when the wet season arrives. Indigenous people use these iconic trees for shelter, and parts of the plant for food and medicine. I am drawn to the Boab's iconic shape, as well as their beauty and grace, which I hope to have expressed in this painting.

Artist Bio
Thank you for visiting my page. Painting is central to my life and happiness, and I hope you will sense an expression of joy in my work.
I paint in both oils and acrylics, choosing whatever style I feel is right for my subject, sometimes in a traditional representative manner, sometimes impressionistic, sometimes abstract. Recently I have enjoyed painting large highly detailed floral paintings, bold landscape abstracts and also impressionistic miniature gum blossoms and flowers from my garden.
I have painted all my life, although until recently, my output was small, due to my teaching career and raising a family. Now retired, I paint from my own small studio and also regularly with a group of friends. My paintings are held in private collections in Australia, New Zealand, the UK and Canada.
In 2013, I was honoured with the Order of Australia medal for services to the education of deaf children. It is lovely now, as an older woman, to have the opportunity to give back to my community as a volunteer in a program that supports parents of deaf babies and toddlers.
