Artwork Description

Deeply ingrained in Japanese culture, Sakura (cherry blossoms) mark the arrival of Spring, and with it, seasonal renewal. The display of blossom is fleeting, often lasting only two weeks, and the meaning of Sakura also embraces the fleeting nature of life and of ephemeral beauty.
My painting will make a beautiful addition to your home, and will bring both a sense of calm and invitation to wonder at the beauty of Nature. I have used professional materials throughout and have continued the painting on all sides, so it looks perfect without need for framing. It is finished with artists' varnish and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.

Artist Bio

Thank you for visiting my page. Painting is central to my life and happiness, and I hope you will sense an expression of joy in my work.

I paint in both oils and acrylics, choosing whatever style I feel is right for my subject, sometimes in a traditional representative manner, sometimes impressionistic, sometimes abstract. I enjoy painting nature, including flowers, trees and birds in my own garden, still life arrangements, land and seascapes.

I have painted all my life and work from my home studio. I also regularly paint with a group of artists whom I count among my best friends.

My paintings are held in private collections in Australia, New Zealand, the UK and Canada.

I have won several prizes including Best Oil in Show at Mornington, Best Acrylic in show at Mount View, Best Land or Seascape at Mount View, People’s Choice at Flinders, and several High Commendations.

In 2013, I was honoured with the Order of Australia medal for services to the education of deaf children. It is lovely now, as an older woman, to have the opportunity to give back to my community as a volunteer in a program that supports parents of deaf babies and toddlers.
