Artwork Description

Crane follows my usual interest in building up form with the addition of patterns of lines. The canvas previously held a graphic of a tall crane in a lowering sky over a urban landscape, which is the origin of the title. Often my canvases go through a multitude of forms before arriving at the final state but retain their earlier titles.

Artist Bio

I am a visual artist with a hidden disability. I mainly paint in oil on canvas. My works celebrate the process of painting, embracing changes, accidents, and discoveries made along the way. For as long as I can remember I have been interested in lines in artwork. This interest has distilled to a point where I am painting only in lines. Lines come in many forms‚ the brush stoke‚ the mark‚ calligraphy. I love the way the patterns of lines build up‚ they merge from fields into traces of energy. I am interested in the harmonies and the joining of form and the different scales at which the lines form pattern.
