Artwork Description

Podzol displays my fascination with lines built up in layer upon layer. There is much of the underlying background evident on this occasion. The ground is a mix of earthy yellows and greens, and blue and crimson. The painting is abstract. Lines travel from edge to edge in this painting. This evokes a grid that echoes the edges of the picture plane. The title Podzol comes from a naming convention of random geological features.

Artist Bio

I am a visual artist with a hidden disability. I mainly paint in oil on canvas. My works celebrate the process of painting, embracing changes, accidents, and discoveries made along the way. For as long as I can remember I have been interested in lines in artwork. This interest has distilled to a point where I am painting only in lines. Lines come in many forms‚ the brush stoke‚ the mark‚ calligraphy. I love the way the patterns of lines build up‚ they merge from fields into traces of energy. I am interested in the harmonies and the joining of form and the different scales at which the lines form pattern.
