'Swept Away'
My artistic process is like a wild ocean. There are several riptides, all flowing into different directions. It’s not a smooth ride. Most ideas are swept away by the current. But the good ones remain. And they flourish!
This vibrant painting has so much happening! Several techniques and media were used to bring this beauty to life. It has some gorgeous warm colors, and loads of textures to add more interest, energy and flow.
Materials:
This painting was painted using alcohol inks on a wooden panel.
It has a hook attached to the back, so it is ready to hang.
Texture paste was used to add depth.
I used pastels to add some splashes of color.
Alcohol inks are highly pigmented, alcohol based inks. They can be used like other media like oils, acrylics and watercolors. By layering the inks, and by using different techniques, the artist can create a feeling of depth and flow. The thing that is different about these inks is how unpredictable they are, and to what extend one can control them. Guiding the inks takes a certain level of skill, but also the ability to accept their unruliness. I think that’s why I love them so much!
It is finished with several layers of UV protection and varnish to help prevent fading.
