While observing these pebbles that were washed up on the beach, I realised how visually similar they were. Lots of grey and smooth edged rocks. But actually, once I started to paint them, I found the greys were different. The shapes varied and every so often there was a different coloured pebble. They were the same but different. It made me think how important it is that things, just like people have their differences. There is a balance in this, and this makes the painting interesting. Just like in life, we should embrace our differences. We can learn a lot from that.
