Plumage

A single abundant bloom captured at the moment where fullness meets fragility. The petals unfurl in layered sculptural forms, curling and folding into one another like soft fabric in motion. Subtle tones of ivory, blush, mauve are delicately blended giving the flower a luminous almost translucent quality.

Light appears to skim across the petals edges, catching their crisp contours while deeper shadows settle into the inner folds creating depth and a quiet drama. The background is restrained and atmospheric, a dusky mauve-grey that recedes gently allowing the flower to emerge as the focal point with distraction.

There's a sense of stillness and reverence , the bloom suspended in time both powerful and tender.

My passion for gardening has led me along the pathway to the joys of painting nature and flowers in particular. The subject matter is contantly evolving and it is shaped by my daily experiences. Colour, shape, texture and light are all part of the composition of each painting, all that are quite different but all linked by the love of flowers.

I enjoy painting with acrylics, the ease of blending the paint and using both fine and bold brush strokes ensure very painting has it's own unique quality and character.

Over the years I have found that my large paintings, (100cm x 100/123cm) have become feature paintings in the home of many people. To paint a picture is a comforting and absorbing experience, an escape in so many ways and it is always an absolute delight and compliment to know that when a painting is purchased, someone else enjoys that paintng too.
