Uplifting

This work explores my ongoing fascination with light and balance. I am drawn to the tension between the crisp clarity of the petals and their inherent fullness, through multiple layers that hold both softness and strength.
Shadows play a vital role in the composition; it's depth creates contrast and grounding, allowing the petals to emerge against the two toned grey field.
Through this interplay of light and darkness, I aim to invite stillness and contemplation, encouraging the viewer to slow down and experience the subtle complexity with a seemingly simple form.

My passion for gardening has led me along the pathway to the joys of painting nature and flowers in particular. The subject matter is contantly evolving and it is shaped by my daily experiences. Colour, shape, texture and light are all part of the composition of each painting, all that are quite different but all linked by the love of flowers.

I enjoy painting with acrylics, the ease of blending the paint and using both fine and bold brush strokes ensure very painting has it's own unique quality and character.

Over the years I have found that my large paintings, (100cm x 100/123cm) have become feature paintings in the home of many people. To paint a picture is a comforting and absorbing experience, an escape in so many ways and it is always an absolute delight and compliment to know that when a painting is purchased, someone else enjoys that paintng too.
