Hi there,
I'm Michelle, a Sydney based abstract artist with a background 
as a commercial designer. My approach to creating art is free and expressive, in contrast to the discipline required to succeed as a designer in advertising, where briefs, deadlines and client expectations often restrict the end result.
My work captures a spectrum of moods and emotions in 
a visual diary; a reflection of how I am feeling at any given time. I work with lots of layers and textures, creating a balance and harmony between light and dark colours.
My process is intuitive and experimental; I allow the painting itself to guide me and I often begin without knowing where the painting will take me. The journey of discovering the unknown is both daunting and exciting.
Whilst the work is mostly non representational, glimpses of landscape and the moods of nature often present themselves. I am influenced and moved by classical, romantic painters who use atmospheric washes of paint.
