Michelle Tholen, inspired by restrained color and order is challenged to create pop using color combination that is refined, suggesting more. The artist seeks to create color spaces that match a sensory effect and spectra of light within primary colors. Minimalist style, that pays homage to Mark Rothko.

Each piece is an original hand painting and signed by the artist on the front and back. Size is 30 x 22” on BFK Rives 280gsm 100% heavy duty cotton paper with a feather edge. Frame is not included. Art work will arrive rolled in a tube.

Instructions for flattening;
Lightly dampen the backside of the artwork.
Lay the artwork between 2 pieces of card board.
Place a heavy book on the four corners.
Wait 24 hours.

Self-taught Michelle Tholen learned to paint studying concepts of Rothko. Educated and working as an accountant, she found fulfillment creating art on the side. Color fields was Tholen’s first step into the art world later moving to landscapes. Inspired by color, the artist seeks to create color spaces that match a sensory effect and spectra of light within primary colors.

Educated and working as an accountant, the artist found fulfillment creating art on the side. Following her passion, “Color & Form” was the first step into the art world. Tholen left a career in public accounting when she realized that audit and tax didn’t satisfy her creative desires. She recognized her artistic talent and as a self-taught artist specializes in contemporary modern art that is driven with a passion for design and creativity.

Since 97′ she has created hundreds of works, curated numerous shows, and exhibits through-out the bay area. Inspired by Turner, Rothko and Pollock, Tholen’s work is a reflection.
