Original Artwork's Description

This painting is a beautifully atmospheric seascape rendered in expressive, sweeping brushstrokes. The dominant colours are deep blues, purples, and hints of turquoise, creating a sense of depth and movement in the water and sky. The sea is slightly turbulent, reflecting the moody, overcast sky above.
The clouds are slightly thickened and dramatic, with streaks of white and soft grays swirling throughout the upper part of the image, giving the impression of an impending storm or a break in the weather. There's a small patch of reflected light on the water illuminating a white vessel. The light could possibly be from the hidden moon or break in the clouds, adding a focal point and a sense of mystery.
Nearer to the bottom of the painting, warmer hues - soft peach, lavender, and sandy yellows - hint at a shoreline, subtly blending into the cooler sea tones. The overall mood is contemplative and slightly melancholic, evoking the power and beauty of nature.

Artist Bio

Based on Coochiemudlo, a smaller island situated approximately a kilometre off the coast of Queensland, between Brisbane and North Stradbroke Island, Millie, an award winning artist, is innately influenced by the abundance of foliage and wildlife that inhabit her locality.
Unbound to a sole medium or creative methodology, her depictions align with the subject’s intrinsic elements and resonance. Millie paints in a way that depicts her thoughts and feelings of the subject, which has helped her tremendously throughout her adult life and experiences.
“There is no grief as you embrace and involve yourself deeply within the subject of your painting,” Millie states after the passing of her only son in 2003. “Painting was a lifesaving form of comfort at the time of my son’s passing, and continues to be up to the present moment.”
Millie possesses a BA in Fine Arts from Charles Sturt University and a Masters in Art Therapy from the University of Queensland.
