Artwork Description

"I paint flowers so they will not die."
Frida Kahlo
What do we buy flowers for? Anniversaries, a thankyou, a child has been born, perhaps the passing of a friend's loved one, not arriving at a friends home for dinner empty handed or just because! Sometimes certain flowers remind us of a home we once owned or the favourite flowers our parents or grandparents grew.....and sometimes it's just for us to brighten our day and our homes. I so love to paint flowers for so many reasons.
Creating a painting of flowers has such longevity, the flowers may fade but the painting lasts forever.

An original pastel work using soft and hard pastels on Pastelmat archival pastel paper.
Soft Pastels cannot be surpassed for their richness of colour and soft velvety texture. Guaranteed to last for more than a lifetime.
The image size is 25cm x 33cm and has a white matt surround and a silver coloured frame.

Comes with a certificate of authenticity.

Artist Bio

Based on Coochiemudlo, a smaller island situated approximately a kilometre off the coast of Queensland, between Brisbane and North Stradbroke Island, Millie, an award winning artist, is innately influenced by the abundance of foliage and wildlife that inhabit her locality.
Unbound to a sole medium or creative methodology, her depictions align with the subject’s intrinsic elements and resonance. Millie paints in a way that depicts her thoughts and feelings of the subject, which has helped her tremendously throughout her adult life and experiences.
“There is no grief as you embrace and involve yourself deeply within the subject of your painting,” Millie states after the passing of her only son in 2003. “Painting was a lifesaving form of comfort at the time of my son’s passing, and continues to be up to the present moment.”
Millie possesses a BA in Fine Arts from Charles Sturt University and a Masters in Art Therapy from the University of Queensland.
