Home Among the Gum Trees 2 - Colourful Landscape- Small to Medium Format

This is the second of a series describing the foreshore landscape of one of the Southern Moreton Bay Islands called Coochiemudlo Island, which is my home. I take liberties with the contemporary use of colour and of course this is the way I love to work. The feeling of the island is so important to me as an artist and I hope it is to the viewer as well. I have called the series "Home Among the Gum Trees" which is my reality every day.

This soft pastel work is not framed but easily posted sandwiched between glassine paper and foamboard so that ease of viewing is paramount and can then be taken to your framer with no inconvenience. Thankyou for taking the time to view my work.

Based on Coochiemudlo, a smaller island situated approximately a kilometre off the coast of Queensland, between Brisbane and North Stradbroke Island, Millie, an award winning artist, is innately influenced by the abundance of foliage and wildlife that inhabit her locality.
Unbound to a sole medium or creative methodology, her depictions align with the subject’s intrinsic elements and resonance. Millie paints in a way that depicts her thoughts and feelings of the subject, which has helped her tremendously throughout her adult life and experiences.
“There is no grief as you embrace and involve yourself deeply within the subject of your painting,” Millie states after the passing of her only son in 2003. “Painting was a lifesaving form of comfort at the time of my son’s passing, and continues to be up to the present moment.”
Millie possesses a BA in Fine Arts from Charles Sturt University and a Masters in Art Therapy from the University of Queensland.
