Illumination - Australian Beach Seascape Storm Cloudscape Painting

This setting has a particular mysterious quality to it and I just had to paint it, although I'm not religious, I can feel a spiritual connection with this scene. One thing about the ocean, it is never still and those deep blue indigo clouds are amazing. Storms, for some, can be ominous and fearful, but to others it can be a feeling of exhilaration and excitement. We all have had storms in our lives, some scary, some expectantly exciting. One thing for sure is: we all come out of it a little wiser, a little calmer. There is something deeper in the process of our personal storms don't you think?

The painting has an ink underpainting and artist quality acrylic over painting.

This piece is slightly textured, varnished in satin and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
This work , although not exactly, can be created in a different size and on a different substrate i.e. canvas.

Based on Coochiemudlo, a smaller island situated approximately a kilometre off the coast of Queensland, between Brisbane and North Stradbroke Island, Millie, an award winning artist, is innately influenced by the abundance of foliage and wildlife that inhabit her locality.
Unbound to a sole medium or creative methodology, her depictions align with the subject’s intrinsic elements and resonance. Millie paints in a way that depicts her thoughts and feelings of the subject, which has helped her tremendously throughout her adult life and experiences.
“There is no grief as you embrace and involve yourself deeply within the subject of your painting,” Millie states after the passing of her only son in 2003. “Painting was a lifesaving form of comfort at the time of my son’s passing, and continues to be up to the present moment.”
Millie possesses a BA in Fine Arts from Charles Sturt University and a Masters in Art Therapy from the University of Queensland.
