Artwork Description

This work is heavily influenced by the colours and rocky terrain of inland Australia (Woomera and Roxby Downs in Northern South Australia). Many layers of transparent and opaque watercolour lay over a rough textured watercolour paper which emphasizes the strength of the rocks.
Professionally framed in teak and non-reflective glass. This work was framed before I signed it so it will be signed on the back of the frame and a Certificate of Authenticity (with photo of the image) will be attached. Insitu image shows how multiple small format paintings can be utilised in a large space. Only one painting for sale per listing.

Artist Bio

Based on Coochiemudlo, a smaller island situated approximately a kilometre off the coast of Queensland, between Brisbane and North Stradbroke Island, Millie, an award winning artist, is innately influenced by the abundance of foliage and wildlife that inhabit her locality.
Unbound to a sole medium or creative methodology, her depictions align with the subject’s intrinsic elements and resonance. Millie paints in a way that depicts her thoughts and feelings of the subject, which has helped her tremendously throughout her adult life and experiences.
“There is no grief as you embrace and involve yourself deeply within the subject of your painting,” Millie states after the passing of her only son in 2003. “Painting was a lifesaving form of comfort at the time of my son’s passing, and continues to be up to the present moment.”
Millie possesses a BA in Fine Arts from Charles Sturt University and a Masters in Art Therapy from the University of Queensland.
